ORIENT'S two-goal hero Sean Thornton insisted the confidence had come flooding back to the team during Saturday's 2-0 home win over Walsall.
The Irishman netted twice in ten second-half minutes to end the O's dismal run of seven games without a win and put more breathing space between themselves and the League One drop zone, which they are now eight points adrift of in 14th.
Thornton revealed the squad had a heart-to-heart after last Tuesday's disappointing defeat at Oldham, and it clearly worked.
“The gaffer had a good chat with us after the game (on Tuesday) and since Thursday and Friday we've been getting the team spirit and confidence back, and it showed today,” said the midfielder.
Thornton tapped in Orient's first goal after Aaron Doran's shot was blocked just after the hour mark. He then showed commendable calmness in front of goal as he cut inside and slid in an excellent second to put the game out of Walsall's reach ten minutes later.
Describing his second goal, Thornton said: “It came out to me and I tried to keep my composure and slot it in. Lucky enough it went in and that killed the game for us.
“It was a great result and a great team performance. In the first half we didn't really get started but we had some chances and we could have won by a lot more.”
