Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has confirmed the club could themselves look to make a bid for occupancy of the Olympic Stadium after the deal to award the venue to West Ham collapsed.

Orient had contested the decision to allow West Ham to take up occupancy of the stadium and the case was set for judicial review next week.

However, negotiations over the West Ham bid fell through after the Brisbane Road club and Tottenham launched legal challenges.

The stadium is now expected to remain in public ownership with parties being invited this week to make bids to rent the stadium.

Hearn said Orient could look to make a bid themselves “subject to certain things happening.”

There are factors which would need to be addressed such as the athletics track and the capacity of the stadium.

However, Hearn labelled this a victory for the “little man.”

“This is a massive day for Leyton Orient,” said the O’s chairman. “It is a huge win for us.”
