TERRY'S TALK: Let’s take Southend disappointment out on Scunthorpe

FRIDAY at Southend was a huge disappointment because having worked so hard all week to concede so quickly really did take the wind out of our sails a bit.

Then just when we were trying to find our feet they scored a second within 12 minutes, which was a real body blow.

And before we have even got started they have virtually got the game sewn up, and to be honest I don't think we really got going all night. I have to say I certainly felt for the fans, because having had a little go at them after the Stockport they have been excellent in the last couple of games.

And credit where it is due, they had travelled in numbers to Southend and we let them down, because even at 3-0 they still didn’t stop singing.

So I have to applaud them for that and would ask them to get right behind us again on Saturday because we’ve got another tough game against Scunthorpe now.

They have been on an excellent run of results and having come down last season we know they are going to be one of the favourites to go back up.

But if you look at our fixtures up until Christmas we’ve got no easy games and that is the thing about this league now, there are so many good teams in it.

But we have been working hard in training all week and we were in until late on Monday doing strengthening work in the gym as well.

We are just looking to find that extra edge again and you can see it in the players eyes this week how focused everyone is to try and put a stop to this run of poor results.

Of course we are trying to keep some of the banter going to keep spirits up, but there is nothing of any real note to report this week.
