I THOUGHT the lads put in a very good shift on Saturday to beat a quality Hartlepool side.
It has been a difficult time for us, but other than a couple of early chances for them I thought we dominated the game.
Sean came in and did very well alongside Chambo in midfield.
Brian also did extremely well at the back and didn't look like he had been out of the team. But we were a little worried it wasn’t going to be our day, because we hit the bar twice and it just didn’t seem like it was going to go for us.
But credit to the fans they stuck with the lads and I think their support on Saturday drove the boys on.
And in the end Boydy came off the bench to get the winner. Of course like myself he was disappointed to be left out, because we all want to be out there playing. But the main thing on Saturday is that the boys got the result. I certainly think Boydy looked a bit more confident after he came on, given his shocking penalty miss against the MK Dons the other week.
I have been giving him plenty of flak about that, because even a year after my miss at Bristol Rovers he still gives me stick whenever I step up to take a penalty in training.
But I don't suppose it bothers him much at the minute as he is walking with a bounce in his stride after someone told him he looked like the film star Colin Farrell.
Perhaps they wanted him to buy them a drink or something because I can’t see it myself.
We now go to Colchester in the FA Cup with a lot more confidence and hopefully if we can get another result there it will really help us turn around our season now.
