Premier Division

Chingford crushed Chelmsford by 185 runs on Saturday as Daniel Lawrence and Alfie Taylor both made centuries.

Lawrence (153) and Taylor (110) led the way for hosts Chingford, who finished on 297 for eight.

Mark Drain and Tom Craddock each took three wickets but could not slow the hosts’ scoring.

The visitors struggled with the bat in reply and only Jack Sterland (26) and Adil Dewan (25) made more than 15.

Shaun Eaton tore through the Chelmsford line-up, taking seven for 37 to round off a comfortable victory.

The bowlers were on top as Joe Ellis-Grewal and Max Osborne starred in a draw between first-placed Wanstead and Snaresbrook and second-placed Brentwood.

Ellis-Grewal was the key man for hosts Wanstead. He helped himself to five wickets while Brentwood’s Osborne claimed six for 62.

Having elected to bat first, the hosts were grateful for Kishen Velani’s knock of 97 as they reached 249 for nine.

Jonathan Das added a handy 55 to the total as the lower order struggled for runs.

Ian Belchamber (three for 64) assisted Osborne in dismantling the hosts’ batting line-up.

A knock of 108 from opener Guy Balmford got Brentwood off to a strong start but Aaron West (49) was the only other batsmen to make a sizeable contribution.

Ellis-Grewal was well-supported by Mohammed Fayyaz Khan (three for 46) but the duo could not remove Brentwood as they finished on 236 for eight.

Five wickets from Garry Neicho were not enough as South Woodford failed to bowl out Harold Wood.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, visitors South Woodford were bowled out for 225.

Jake McMullen hit 96 for the away side, including 13 fours, with Harry Neicho chipping in with 54.

Shahbaz Khan was the most effective bowler for the hosts, taking four for 53.

Raihan Hussain opened the Wood innings in positive fashion but the middle order made little progress, with only Colin Sher (35) adding any runs of note.

Fifty-one not out from Hamza Ikram eventually helped the hosts to 213 for nine as time ran out.

Neicho’s five-wicket haul proved not quite enough as South Woodford fell a wicket short of the win.

Second bottom Loughton remain winless after drawing at Ilford.

The visitors won the toss and opted to have a crack at the hosts’ attack but struggled as Gurdeep Kandola (91) and Nigel Jacobs (80) dictated the early pace.

Bilal Butt took four wickets for the away side but they came at the cost of 111 runs.

After 64 overs and on 284 for six, Ilford elected to declare and attempt to bowl out their visitors.

Mohammed Hafeez hit eight fours on his way to 62 and Rishi Patel added 51 late on as Loughton closed on 214 for seven.

Irfan Sahar and Aron Nijjar claimed two wickets each but it was not enough to secure the win.

Division One

Buckhurst Hill took low-scoring Ardleigh Green apart to record a nine-wicket home win.

Having won the toss, the visitors opted to bat first but regretted that decision when only Omar Ayaz (20) and Alex Cason (16) made double figures.

Rob Petchey took three for 16 and Rohan Bhome claimed two for 13 as Buckhurst reduced their visitors to 75 all out.

The hosts lost just one wicket reaching the meagre total of 77, with Ricky Reynolds (37) and Hermes Michael Solomonides (31) doing the damage.

Woodford Wells suffered a 48-run loss at home to Colchester and East Essex, despite Grant McEwan’s 76.

Batting first, the visitors got off to an inauspicious start but recovered thanks to Sam Foster (76) and Andrew Kennedy (45).

Rehan Iqbal took five for 43 as Colchester finished on 223 for nine.

McEwan’s 76 was as good as it got for the hosts, who had a batting collapse to thank for their disappointing total of 175.

Ben Stephens and Harry Foster each claimed three wickets to ease the visitors to the win.

Division Two

West Essex thrashed Fives and Heronians by 161 runs, with Mubashir Javed hitting 103.

Javed’s opening partner, Farhad Saleem (51), also played a key part as the hosts reached a huge total of 335 for seven from their overs.

Steven Doig and Stuart Knapman were the pick of the Fives bowlers with a pair of wickets each.

The visitors struggled with the bat and could only muster 174 before being removed.

Mick Perry (46) top-scored and Ben Britton was the next highest contributor with half his total.

Riz Akbar enjoyed a good spell at the crease, picking up five for 45.

Division Three

Epping remain winless after they were comfortably beaten by nine wickets at home to Harlow Town.

After winning the toss, Epping elected to bat first and after a slow start, Rakesh Bagga (52) and Simon Lycett (26) top-scored.

Ronnie Yates (four for 27) and Ramya Upadhyay (three for 24) restricted the hosts to 174.

In reply, Patrick Yates (76) and Matt Hurley (70) made minimal fuss of hitting 177 for the loss of just one wicket.

Oakfield Parkonians beat Basildon and Pitsea by 122 runs with Jibran Azam scoring 169.

Hosts Oakfield started boldly but looked in trouble at 44 for three.

Azam came to the rescue and stroked 18 fours and four sixes. He was supported by Paran Kalley (37) and Jai Patel (24) as Park reached 307 for seven.

Baldeep Mann (three for 27) and Amit Kalley (three for 39) had the visitors at 69 for six before a further flurry of wickets saw Basildon bowled out for 185.

A century from Anthony Palmer was to no avail as Woodford Green suffered a six-wicket defeat at Old Brentwoods.

The Green middle order and tail could not build on Palmer’s knock of 114 and the visitors were all out for 207.

Ubaid Kiani accounted for four wickets, conceding 27 runs in the process.

Sixty-five from Kiani and 59 from Taranjeet Ladhar eased Brentwoods to a match-winning 209 for four.
