Third XI Premier Division

Wanstead and Snaresbrook Thirds suffered a ten-wicket defeat at Chelmsford, with David Thrift’s century easing the hosts home.

Chelmsford won the toss and put Wanstead into bat, the visitors struggling to score runs consistently.

Abhay Bygott top-scored for the away side with 37, whilst Mohammed Shahriyar hit 35 as Wanstead were bowled out for 195.

Craig Thompson led the way with the ball, taking four for 46, whilst Keith Goodman claimed three for 51.

Chelmsford made light work of knocking off Wanstead’s total, reaching 196 without losing a wicket.

Thrift’s (103) partnership with Jack Moss (74) proved enough to condemn Wanstead to defeat.

Danny Hazle scored a ton as Shenfield Thirds won by 46 runs at home to Woodford Wells Thirds.

Shenfield won the toss and were struggling before Hazle stepped up to hit 125.

Garry Sapsford chipped in with 39 as the home side were bowled out for 287.

Wade Goodlet was the star with the ball, finishing with figures of five for 65.

In reply, Wells fell away after a start which saw Tomas Corbyn (48), Philip Ashwell (35) and Albert Morgan (31) begin productively.

Paul Murphy (30) and Deepak Sinha (29) provided good late knocks but the visitors fell short on 241.

South Woodford Thirds held on for a draw against high-scoring Hainault and Clayhall.

Visitors Hainault were put into bat first and set about posting a strong score of 314 for four before declaring.

Asfaq Ahmad (76 not out), Waleed Khan (74) and Rahat Mansha (71) all provided important knocks for the away side.

The hosts began strongly with the bat, Larry Cant making 64 and Rajeev Kumar 67 as they chased down the target.

However the run rate slowed as Hainault made inroads into the hosts’ attack, finishing on 218 for six.

Mohsin Zamir took two for 18 for the visitors.

Shahid Maan scored a century to drag Buckhurst Hill Thirds to a five-wicket win at Brentwood Thirds.

Put into bat by the hosts, Brentwood were poor with the bat and were thankful to Dave Balroop (55) and Jack Payne (48) late on.

Euan Fay led the way with the ball, removing three wickets for just 14 runs. Maan also helped himself to three for 31 as Buckhurst dismissed their hosts for 178.

Fears of a Buckhurst collapse were ended when Maan stepped up to the crease to hit his way to 106 not out.

With five wickets to spare, the visitors reached 180 to win.

Third XI Division One

Seventy-two from Josh Hutchings eased Wanstead and Snaresbrook Fourths to a six-wicket win at home to Chelmsford Fourths.

The hosts won the toss and inserted their visitors into bat.

Phil Arnold made 42 at three but the wickets soon fell cheaply and frequently.

Muhammed Arish took three for 29, whilst Muhammed Atif took three for 30 for the hosts.

The Wanstead innings got off to an inauspicious start with openers Bilal Patel (2) and Barney Mead (0) both dismissed quickly.

Hutchings’ knock of 72 picked up the scoring before Inquiyad Chowdury (57) and Aman Ali (5) hit the winning runs.

Paul Warren scored 127 as Chingford Thirds beat Fives and Heronians Thirds by five wickets.

Hosts Fives won the toss and elected to bat first, making 250 for five.

Shahrukh Irfan (69) and Stephen Iyayi (79) top-scored as Fives dictated proceedings.

The Chingford response was well underway when Warren hit 127.

Fives struggled to restrict the flow of runs and the visitors reached 252 with five wickets in hand.

Third XI Division Two

Loughton Thirds enjoyed a 120-run win over Wickford Thirds to retain their spot in the automatic promotion places.

Batting first, Loughton reached 251 for seven before deciding to declare.

Opener Naved Ali hit 42 and was supported by Niketh Shetty (63) and Vidhyarthi Kantumuchbu (68) at three and four.

Craig Anderson took three wickets but they came at the expense of 61 runs.

Wickford were less than impressive at the crease, with Neale Anderson (24 not out) top scoring.

Jonathan Almond (four for 36) and Umer Aziz (three for 20) played key roles in removing Wickford for 131.

West Essex Thirds went down at Westcliff-on-Sea Thirds by seven wickets.

The visitors were bowled out for 184 after 48 overs.

Westcliff claimed victory by reaching 186 for three, with Jeremy Lawford (76) and Daniel Dooley (76) top scoring.

Third XI Division Three

Shyam Kharva hit an unbeaten century to guide Loughton Fourths to a seven-wicket win at home to Harlow Town Thirds.

Harlow opened their innings with 54 from Daniel Baldwin before Mansoor Ahmad took centre stage with six for 83.

Brian Lall (50) was the only other batsmen to make a sizeable contribution for the visitors, who were bowled out for 188.

Ahmad stole the show with the ball and was supported by Osman Choudhry, who took three for 20.

The Loughton reply got off to a faltering start before Kharva stepped up to score 102 not out.

Lynn Ninan (33) joined Kharva at the crease to rack up the winning runs with seven wickets in hand.

A century from J Wolfe was in vain as South Woodford Fourths won by six wickets at Belhus Fourths.

Batting first, Belhus declared on 225 for three, with Wolfe making 146.

In reply, the visitors reached 228 having lost just four wickets.
