Second XI Premier Division

James Fitzgerald finished with figures of six for 47 to inspire Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds to a five-wicket win at Shenfield Seconds.

Inserted into bat, the visitors were reliant on middle-orders knocks of 43 from James Salisbury and Tom Ballington as they overcame a slow start.

Openers William Appleton (6) and Martin Allen (6) were removed before Ollie Eakes (28) and then Salisbury and Ballington helped build a total of 175.

Fitzgerald cleared out the lower order, finishing with six wickets from 13 overs, whilst Shahid Saeed took two for 27.

Joseph Palmer (59) opened for the visitors and was assisted by Mahesh Velani (24) as second-placed Wanstead started positively.

The runs dried up before 54 not out from Matthew Smith helped the away side to a winning total of 176 for five.

James Hill’s half-century eased Chingford Seconds to a five-wicket triumph over Upminster Seconds.

Put into bat first, visitors Upminster lost a number of early wickets without putting up many runs before Shafiq Rahman (42) came to the crease.

Tigg (34) hit five fours and a six before being removed, leaving Upminster to finish on 179 for nine.

Sam Levido scored 34 in reply for Chingford, who saw contributions of 35 and 33 not out from Christopher Stephens and Liam Lannen respectively carry them to 183 for five.

South Woodford Seconds just held out for a draw against Ilford Seconds.

Chasing South Woodford’s total of 219 for eight declared, the visitors were on 215 for nine when they ran out of overs.

Buckhurst Hill Seconds played out a draw with Colchester and East Essex seconds which did neither side any real favours.

Asked to bat first, Colchester put up 209 for eight before deciding to declare.

Hosts Buckhurst lost seven wickets en route to 160 but held on to claim the draw.

Second XI Division One

Ashfaq Parvez hit 76 to help Loughton Seconds remain top of the table after claiming a seven-wicket win over Orsett Seconds.

Hosts Orsett were disappointing with the bat and only 26 from George Smith provided a glimmer of hope.

Adam Vinson took three for just six runs and Andrew Bridges managed three for 26 to remove Orsett for 105.

Parvez’s unbeaten 76 had Loughton well on their way, with Asim Aslam (11) helping hit the winning runs with seven wickets in hand.

Second XI Division Two

West Essex Seconds claimed an important seven-wicket win over Stanford Le Hope Seconds.

Hosts Stanford posted a competitive total of 200 for eight before declaring but their opponents required just three wickets to trump that score with 202.

Second XI Division Three

Oakfield Parkonians Seconds’ promotion hopes suffered a blow with a six-wicket defeat at Horndon on the Hill Seconds.

Visitors Parks put up 154 before being dismissed but it took Horndon less than 30 overs to surpass that total with six wickets in hand.
