Epping Upper Clapton got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 43-24 win over Millwall which lifts them into fifth place in the Essex League 1.

From the off, Millwall made it clear they were not making up the numbers and applied pressure on Epping, leading to unforced errors and subsequently penalties for the visitors.

For the vast majority of the first half, Epping were pinned in their own half of the field, and after 35 minutes were 13-0 down.

However, two quick-fire converted tries before the break saw Epping overturn the deficit to go in 14-13 ahead at half-time.

A slight tactical tweak after the break helped turn the contest in Epping’s favour, with four second-half tries ensuring the home side were eventually comfortable winners against a spirited Millwall side.

In the London League 1 North, Eton Manor have now racked up six straight victories and are three points clear atop the standings after beating Ruislip 45-17.

Next Saturday Manor travel to local rivals Chingford, who won 20-5 at Romford and Gidea Park - a result which leaves them third after six games and five points off the pace.

Woodford remain rock-bottom of the standings after a 103-0 thrashing at the hands of Letchworth Garden City.

North Walsham are the visitors on Saturday.

In London League 3 North East, Wanstead remain third - that despite a 32-27 home defeat by Harlow.

Wanstead face the long trip to West Norfolk on Saturday.

A dominant display from Wanstead Seconds saw previously undefeated league-leaders Old Cooperians thrashed 62-7 to claim consecutive victories for the first time.

Early tries from James Cull, Dan Procter and Tom Morgan put Wanstead in the driving seat and from there, they never let up.

A second try from Cull helped boost Wanstead's lead, but Old Coops hit back after the re-start to record their first score.

Tom and Steve Morgan both got in on the act as the game drew to a close and Wanstead took the contest away from their visitors with a rampant display.
