Mark Deeming recorded a hat-trick of wins when he lifted the prestigious Roberts Challenge Cup in the 36-hole final at Woodford Golf Club on Saturday.
He beat 23-year-old Mitchell O’Brien by 4 & 3 to add to his successes in 2000 and 2003.
The 54-year-old, pictured, who has a handicap of six, was two down at the halfway point to his 11-handicap Loughton opponent, but recovered to level matters at the 26th and finally capture the cup – the first Woodford trophy donated to the club in 1893 by the philanthropist and former club president, Sir John Roberts – at the 34th hole.
Simon Ironside and his partner Kevin Williamson lifted the Stephenson Trophy in the four-ball better ball final on Sunday.
Williamson sank a good putt to seal their 2 & 1 win over club vice-captain Terry Chisholm and Kevin Sullivan.
Section secretary Peter Rogers retained the Captain v Secretary seniors’ trophy after his team were held to a draw by Captain John Walker’s men in the annual match.
Rogers keeps the trophy because his team won it last year.
