Five second-half goals saw Redbridge thrashed 6-2 at Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday, despite taking a first-half lead.

Visitors Redbridge began brightly and could have taken the lead after four minutes as Brian Moses brought a good save out of Rovers goalkeeper Adam Seals.

In reply, Leon Smith hit the bar for the home side, before the Motormen scored in the 24th minute.

Bostry Bansende pounced on a loose pass from the hosts and placed the ball beyond Seals to give Dave Ross’ side the lead.

The lead did not last long though, and Rovers were level when Tom Ranger rose highest to nod Joe Skeels’ cross beyond Redbridge keeper Jack Avery.

And Rovers took the lead into the break thanks to an effort on the stroke of half-time; Billy Radley stabbing home from close range after Tyron Thomas had helped a free-kick across the face of goal.

Two goals in the space of ten second-half minutes from Nick Skelton took the game away from Redbridge. The first came when Ranger’s corner drifted to the back post to allow for a simple tap-in, and the second followed when Skeels guided a free-kick onto the defender’s head.

Five minutes after his introduction as a substitute, Billy Johnson added a fifth, darting into space before firing into the top left-hand corner to leave Avery with no chance.

And five became six in the 88th minute. Ranger collected a pass from John Bradley and promptly curled a right-footed effort into the bottom left-hand corner of the net to apply the gloss to an excellent performance.

Redbridge did get one back in the 90th minute when Patrick Damali finished from close range, but they had already been well beaten.

Waltham Abbey were beaten by two first-half goals as they lost 2-0 at home to Needham Market on Tuesday.

Christopher Hogg gave the visitors the lead after just 11 minutes, and a minute before the break, Luke Ingram sealed the win.

Waltham Forest extended their winning run to seven league matches on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Tower Hamlets.

The result lifts the Stags up to fifth place in the Essex Senior League table, although they have played more games than their immediate rivals.

Solomon Ofori opened the scoring when he followed in following a save by the visitors’ goalkeeper and the lead was doubled when Jose Agua crashed home a half-volley.

Luke Ifil then curled home a fine third, and although Tower Hamlets got one back, Forest eased to their fifth win in seven league games.

The Stags were knocked out of the FA Vase in the first round proper after going down 2-1 to Great Yarmouth Town on Saturday.

Leighton Crux handed the Eastern Counties League first division side a first-minute lead, but Ofori levelled for the Stags in the 25th minute of the contest.

And on the stroke of half-time, Kyle Ingram scored what proved to be the decisive goal to send the Bloaters into round two.
