It was a familiar story for Crostyx, who were beaten 2-1 by Ipswich-East Suffolk, leaving them second bottom of the table.

Styx failed to capitalise on a bright start and were nearly made to pay when some lax play forced Ian Baldwin into making a good save when one-on-one.

The Styx stopper then had to make two good saves, before the visitors went in front from a short corner midway through the opening period.

A second followed after a good initial stop by Baldwin; the ball fell kindly for the visitors who doubled up from close range.

However, the momentum swung in Styx’s favour when an Ipswich player was green carded for a poor challenge, before seeing yellow for an elbow.

And the hosts halved the deficit when AJ Vassiliou flicked over the Ipswich goalkeeper.

Despite their best efforts after the break, Styx could not take advantage of their numerical supremacy as the Suffolk side finished with nine men.

Crostyx’s Ladies side had a better time of things as Emma Haggat scored a brace to help secure a 3-2 win over Brentwood.

Haggat drew Styx level after Brentwood took the lead against the run of play.

Anna Feldman then put Crostyx ahead, but a solo effort saw Brentwood draw level before Haggat grabbed her second to settle the tie.
