Woodford Wells ‘A’ succumbed to a 6-4 victory at the hands of champions Heathcote ‘A’, who have only dropped a point this season.

Heathcote began in a manner befitting their status, with number one player Nana Ansah overcoming Wells’ Dave Page 3-0. The next three matches went the way of Heathcote, who took a commanding 4-0 lead.

Page then exacted some small revenge by defeating Mike Wood 3-0 to reduce the deficit to 4-1.

Heathcote’s Sal Ahmed then beat Ray Brown and Wood overcame Paul Pells to extend the advantage to 6-1.

Wells’ Ray Brown then caused an upset by defeating the previously unbeaten Ansah 11-9, 11-8, 12-0 to claim a 3-0 victory.

The next match saw Page end Ahmed’s undefeated run this season and then Page and Pells combined in the doubles to beat Ahmed and Wood 3-2 after some very close games.
