Buckhurst Hill Lacrosse Club returned to winning ways with a comfortable 8-2 victory at Reading on Saturday.

Despite missing a number of key attacking players, Bucks moved the ball around well from the off but could not find a way through.

Their persistence was eventually rewarded when they took the lead, and then a quick shot late in the first quarter from James Amey extended their advantage to 2-0.

The second quarter began tightly with keeper Ben Stowe forced into some important saves, before a dominant period of five minutes from captain Chris Merritt at the face off brought four quick goals from the attacking trio of Dave Williams, Dominic Newlyn and David Mason.

With the game looking safe at 6-0, Bucks put more emphasis on developing their game, though Nick Milburn still had time to score a brilliant solo effort running out of defence and Williams finished a sharp passing move.

Bucks host London University at home on Saturday as they bring the first half of their season to an end.
