Essex Premier Cup
Last season’s winners Newbury Forest were dumped out the third round of the cup in emphatic fashion after losing 5-1 to Old Chelmsfordians on Saturday.
A hat-trick from Marti Callum did much of the damage for Chelmsfordians, who also scored through Joe Wright and Damian Lee to complete their win.
Buckhurst Hill did progress into round four by defeating Hutton 3-2; Axel Kodjo, Alfie Ripsher and Rickie Reid were all on target for Buckhurst.
Premier Division Wadham Lodge continued their title tilt with a 6-1 thrashing of Southminster St Leonards.
Harry Honesty hit a hat-trick for Lodge while Charlie Georgiou, Tom Carroll and Harry Harris were also on target.
Mark Jones got Southminster’s consolation strike.
The wins means Lodge are now third, four points behind leaders Bishop’s Stortford Swifts, but with the benefit of three games in hand.
Division One
Ongar Town won a thrilling contest 6-5 against Canning Town to move into sixth place on goal difference.
There were braces for Niki Love and Danny Dow whilst Ben Polley and Nick Evans both got in on the act.
Shaun Farnum scored a hat-trick for Canning, who also saw Steve Starkey and Matt Betts get on the scoresheet.
Division Two
Roydon were well beaten by league-leaders Toby, going down 4-0 away from home.
Desmond Gallen (2), Paul Carr and Bradley Woodards all notched for Toby.
Division Three
Second-placed Epping were beaten 2-1 by Ramsden Scotia, allowing FC Hamlets POAPC to extend their lead at the summit.
Rob Powell had scored to put Epping ahead before Dave Hollis and John Burdett hit back after the break to secure the points.
Defeat means Epping now trail Ramsden by three points, with the leaders boasting four games in hand.
