Old Loughtonians ladies were comfortable winners against Wapping ladies on Saturday – running out 3-0 winners away from home.

Both sides started strongly, with Wapping attacking Old Loughts’ defence down the flanks and utilising the energy of Becky Hart in midfield, along with player of the match Helen Rees and captain Lucy Todd.

The two sides were both awarded a number of short corners but neither was successful in converting these chances.

Having held strong for most of the first half of the game, Wapping conceded their first goal just before the half-time whistle.

The second half began with Wapping determined to equalise, but Old Loughts managed to convert a short corner to double their advantage.

Wapping continued to battle and had a series of powerful attacks from the speedy forward line which failed to yield an equaliser.

A yellow card for Wapping’s Maria Keizer left the home side with ten players on the pitch and Old Loughts used their numerical advantage to find the net again, making the final score 3-0.

Crostyx men’s Seconds were comprehensively beaten by Witham, losing 5-1.

Witham, who went into the game unbeaten, took a 3-0 lead into half time after ruthlessly punishing Styx for three individual errors.

In the second half, Crostyx managed to move the ball around quicker, but still lacked real penetration, and they also had two periods where they were down to ten men as indiscipline sunk in.

Witham managed two more well-worked goals, but Styx did reply with a well-taken finish after a good move down the middle.

The last game before Christmas will see Crostyx travelling to Upminster in the hope of completing a double.

Styx men’s Firsts lost 6-3 at Ford, whilst the ladies’ Seconds were beaten 3-1 by Old Loughtonians Seconds.
