Amelia Peddle starred as Epping Forest District Swimming Club set a number of new personal best at block ‘B’ of the Essex County Championships over the weekend.

There were bronze medals for Peddle in the 400m freestyle, achieved in a time of 4.33.84, and the 800m freestyle in 9.34.54.

Peddle also finished fourth in the 100m freestyle and sixth in the 100m butterfly.

George Park reached two finals, coming fourth in the 100m backstroke thanks to a personal best of 1.19.84 – a four-second improvement on his previous best – and a sixth-place finish in the 100m freestyle.

Hannah Gillespie scooped fifth in the 800m freestyle and seventh in the 400m freestyle.

A personal best of 4.35.03 was enough for Finlay Sergent to come sixth in the 400m freestyle, whilst also scooping sixth in the 100m freestyle with an impressive 59.57.

Lisa Waite came home in fourth in the 100m butterfly and Roisin Clifford also secured a fourth-place finish in the 100m backstroke with a 12-second improvement on her personal best, now at 1.17.29.

Michael Sharp swam the gruelling 400m individual medley to clinch eighth place whilst Alfie Stride was sixth in the 100m freestyle with a personal best of 1.08.79.

Completing a busy weekend, the girls 15 to 17 years 4x50m freestyle relay team of Peddle, Waite, Dora Zhou and Gillespie came sixth overall in the final.
