Ongar's Mark Cavendish won the opening stage of the Dubai Tour earlier today, beating Astana's Andrea Guardini in a photo finish.
The Etixx-QuickStep rider finished in a time of 3.25.00 after his teammates had controlled the 145km stage, with Cavendish sprinting to a narrow victory over Guardini.
Sky's Elia Viviani finished in third place.
Victory for Cavendish is his second of 2015, with the Manx Missle having won a stage of the Tour de San Luis in Argentina last month.
Stage two begins in Thursday with Cavendish taking the race leader's jersey.
