Ongar's Mark Cavendish has won the Dubai Tour after winning the fourth and final stage of the event this morning.

The 29-year-old won the first stage on Wednesday before finishing second to Elia Viviani on stage two.

But the 'Manx Missile' relinquished his lead on stage three, with John Degenkolb earning a four-second lead of the Isle of Man-born rider ahead of this morning's final stage.

However, Cavendish made up the gap to win stage four and the second edition of the Dubai Tour, with Degenbolb finishing second and Juanjo Lobato third overall in the general classification.

A time of 2.37.15 saw Cavendish beat Degenkolb who was ninth across the line in the same time.

"I am over the Moon. My team Etixx-QuickStep made an incredible job too," said Cavendish afterwards.
