Essex kart racer Lochlan Bearman claimed his second successive win at Kimbolton in round two of the Mini Max Championship at the weekend.

In heat one of qualifying, the 12-year-old began in 16th but had to embark on a recovery drive after being spun out by clumsy driving from another competitor.

But the Theydon Bois racer drove well to advance through the field and finish the first heat in fifth.

Starting in pole position for the second heat, Bearman again saw his drive interrupted by an opponent and tumbled to 14th after ending up on the grass.

However, he responded well and soon found himself at the head of the pack, crossing the line in fourth, only to move up to third when another driver was found to be under weight and excluded.

Bearman started in third place for the final. As the field hit the brakes for turn one, he moved left to avoid hitting the kart in front as he again found himself being pushed from behind. Keeping it together well, Bearman emerged fourth as the leaders exited the Willows and moved back into third by the end of the lap.

Once again behind Thomas Byrne, Bearman made a clean move on his opponent and a good exit from Willows allowed him to complete a move on Byrne to take the lead.

From there Bearman eased home.
