Ongar's Mark Cavendish labelled his fifth win of 2015 as perfect after continuing his excellent start to the sprint season by winning the Almeria Classic on Sunday.

The 29-year-old from the Isle of Man claimed his fifth win of the year by crossing the line in a time of 4.36.19 in southern Spain.

And speaking to BBC Sport, the Etixx-QuickStep rider' enthused: "By the time I went it was just a matter of finishing off the race for the win. It was perfect. I am super happy and proud about the way the team controlled the race the entire day.

"Now we just need to keep up this team atmosphere and keep trying to win races."

'The Manxman' edged out Movistar's Juan Jose Lobato and Australian team-mate Mark Renshaw to triumph at the 185.9km course.

Cavendish recently won the Dubai Tour, claiming two stage victories, and also took a stage at the Tour de San Luis.
