Eton Manor made light work of Ipswich, winning 72-12 on Saturday to claim their 11th straight win in London League One North.

Manor wasted little time in opening the scoring as winger Michael Eghan set off along the touchline leaving defenders in his wake before scoring in the corner.

Rory Moore then outstripped the Ipswich defence to go over, with Callum McKie converting to put Manor 12-0 ahead.

By now Manor were camped inside the visitors’ 22 and scored their third try when Eghan blitzed past the Ipswich defenders once more and McKie converted from the touchline.

With just 23 minutes played it was 26-0 to Manor as once again Eghan displayed blistering pace to dissect the visitors and touch down.

Garth Tucker added a pushover try but McKie’s kick was unsuccessful. It mattered little though, as Jack Tovey and Eghan both crossed to give Manor a commanding 45-0 half-time lead.

Just three second-half minutes had passed when Nick Horton raced over the line. Reece Reed then skipped around three tackles, McKie kicking the extras to take the score up to 59-0.

Ipswich did hit one try in reply but Tovey scored his second from 25 metres before Peter Bicknell touched down and Ben Lockyer added Manor’s 12th try to complete the scoring.

Elsewhere in the division, Chingford were 17-14 winners over Luton, whilst bottom of the pile Woodford were crushed 85-12 by Barking.

In London Three North East, Wanstead battered Clacton 77-0.

And in the Essex League One, Epping Upper Clapton were 68-21 winners at Writtle Wanderers.
