Loughton 20
Old Brentwoods 19
(Presidents Shield Quarter Final)
LOUGHTON swept into the semi-finals of the Presidents Shield after they gained their revenge on promotion chasing Old Brentwoods at Hornbeam Road.
Loughton started strongly and driving on from a lineout Ronaldo was able to score the games opening try. Returning fly-half Owen Sayers converted to make it 7-0.
The visitors fought back from the re-start and despite some excellent defending they breeched Loughton's line twice in the first half to turn around with the home side trailing 10-12, following a Sayers penalty.
Loughton edged ahead from the restart with a further display of power from the pack, with Arachnid claiming the points from a maul.
With the clock running down, Old Brentwoods found space around the fringes and centre Peace jinked in unopposed with a try that was also converted for a 15-19 lead.
Loughton went straight on the attack and following some good play by Estall and Thompson the ball was worked out wide to Estall to snatch victory.
