DESPITE some brave performances, Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club fighters failed to hit winning form last week.
In the final of London north east division Golden Glove Championships Aiden The Destroyer' Pleydell was up against R Willmot of Repton.
The promising young Repton boy won by unanimous decision which surprised the Forest corner.
Coach Chris Baker said: "Repton have a history of providing great amateurs and these boxers will definitely meet again."
Josh The Rage' Smith had his toughest test yet when he met Luke Camp-Hayward at the Chadwell and Corringham open show at Grays in Essex.
Smith was stopped in the second round after suffering a shot to his ribs and was unable to continue.
Hayward was a formidable opponent who had a better record with six wins out of seven fights and was also winner of the Golden Gloves 2006 in the 75kgs weight category.
Also on the Chadwell show making his debut for Waltham Forest was Sam The Galactico' Gilley, who showed great promise in his first fight against Billy Webb from Ongar.
Webb, in his third fight proved too strong for Gilley even when he received a thunderous right cross from "the Galactico" in the second round.
