Dunmow 3
Ramgarhia 1
(East Hockey Div 3SE)

RAMGARHIA were unlucky not to continue last week's good form as they fell away at Dunmow on Saturday, despite keeping the majority of possession.

Rams should have taken an early lead when captain Jaswinder Phull was left in a great position with only the goalkeeper to beat but he chose to cross instead of shoot and the chance was lost.

Left winger Kulraj Singh should have put the visitors ahead soon afterwards after a through-ball from Phull but his weak effort was easily saved.

Dunmow took the lead just before the interval with virtually their first attack of the game. Their right winger eluded the Ramgarhia defence and his pull back was converted by the incoming centre forward.

Rams conceded another sloppy goal soon after the restart. Keeper Rashpal Phull dived early, leaving an open goal for the opposition forward to calmly scoop the ball into the corner.

Ramgarhia won numerous penalty corners as they fought to get back in the game but to no avail, due to both brilliant goalkeeping and poor finishing.

The sucker punch was delivered midway through the second half as the hosts launched a quick counter attack and punished the visiting defence with a well taken team effort.

Kulraj Singh bundled the ball over the line for a consolation goal but it was too little too late as Ramgarhia effectively kissed their promotion hopes goodbye.

They host Upminster on Saturday.
