LOUI Fazakerley shone in the middle of the park as Leyton battled back from a goal down to edge the points against Harrow Borough on Saturday.

The home side took time to settle and were fortunate as two early efforts from Harrow flew wide of the mark.

But the visitors did take the lead on 20 minutes through a looping header from Elliot Onochie.

Dean Palmer drew the home side back into the game nine minutes later, heading home from a corner.

Fazakerley fizzed a 20-yard free-kick inches over the bar before the break as Leyton came back into the game.

The second half started with both sides on the attack but it was the hosts who scored in the 59th minute, Leli Bajada flicking home recent loan signing Curtis Allen's low cross.

It was a tense finale as Onochie came close for the visitors on 82 minutes and at the other end goalkeeper Kieran Jimmy did well to parry Allen's 85th minute shot.

Keeper Jamie Lunan made the points safe for Leyton with a magnificent save after Harrow piled on the pressure with a fierce shot from distance.

On Tuesday Leyton, missing leading scorers Manny Williams and Leli Bajada to injury, were held goalless in the rain by second from bottom side Walton & Hersham.

Assistant manager Kevin Wilkins said: "It was a game we really should have won. You look at their league position. They only had 14 points on the board. But we didn't make the most of our chances.

"In the rain, the pitch definitely levelled the game. The match shouldn't really have gone on. In the end the ball was getting caught up in the centre circle, but I think the referee just wanted to get it over with. It's very disappointing."

Now lying 12th in the league, they travel to Ramsgate on Saturday.
