East London Runners’ Thomas Grimes marked Easter by finishing fifth at the Limerick five-mile on Sunday.

A time of 28.13 was enough to see Grimes pick up the fifth-place finish in Ireland.

Twenty-four hours earlier, Grimes had recorded another fifth-place finish in the Abbey Run 10km in Quin, County Clare.

Grimes crossed the line in a time of 35.20 to get his Easter weekend off to a good start.

Back across the Irish Sea, Diccon Loy finished 46th out of 576 entrants at the Trowse Norwich 10km in a personal best time of 39.44.

Claire Emery competed in the same event and a personal best time of 47.17 saw her finish in 196th place overall.

Club members were out in force on Saturday for a variety of parkruns, with Ciaran Canavan winning the Wanstead event in 18.44 Second place in the same event went to James Wilson (19.06), whilst Peter Craik took ninth (20.37).

James Creed (22.34), Emmet Fitzgibbon (22.45), Maud Hodson (24.30) and Suzanne Bench (25.23) were all among the first 50 finishers.

Patrick Brown was East London Runners’ first finisher in the Walthamstow parkrun, coming home fourth in a time of 18.43.

He was followed home by Jamie Xavier, whose time of 24.11 secured 21st position.

Andrew Baxter scooped eighth at the Brandon parkrun in a time of 20.35, whilst Aaron Brown (19.46) was fifth at Valentine.

David Baldwin’s time of 19.13 was a new course personal best for him in Norwich. He finished in 11th position in the event.
