Redbridge surpassed an unwanted landmark over the Easter weekend, conceding for the 100th time in the Isthmian Division One North whilst moving closer to the drop zone.

Bank Holiday Monday saw the Motormen snatch a late point at second-bottom Barkingside thanks to an injury-time own goal from Chris Clark. The home side had taken the lead in the 58th minute via Andy Edmunds.

The draw leaves Redbridge in 20th position and just two points clear of the relegation zone with four fixtures remaining.

On Saturday, Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton’s side were humbled 5-1 at home by Brightlingsea Regent, shipping for the 100th time in a challenging season.

The hosts made the worst start possible, conceding after just five minutes as Oliver Canfer fired powerfully beyond Mark Parker.

Abs Thompson was Redbridge’s brightest spark and he came close when he dragged an effort narrowly wide of the Brightlingsea post.

The miss proved costly when Jake Gordon chipped home a second for the away side.

Mark Nougher pulled one back at the beginning of the second half with a fierce drive.

But Redbridge were unable to build on that goal and Ben Newson restored their two-goal lead by lobbing home a third.

And the Motormen’s misery was complete when two late goals from Gordon and Jordan Heath completed the scoring.

Next up is a visit from Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.

Waltham Abbey picked up a first win in five as they beat Cheshunt at Capershotts on Monday.

James Peagram got the game’s only goal after six minutes and the Abbotts held on to claim a welcome three points.

Two days earlier Paul Wickenden’s men lost 1-0 at Dereham Town to a Luke Tuttle penalty.

Abbey are at home to AFC Sudbury on Saturday before travelling to Cray Wanderers on Tuesday.

In the Essex Senior League, Waltham Forest lost out 3-2 against Greenhouse London; Mekki Mousse and Jose Agua on target.

The Stags host Eton Manor on Saturday.
