After several years out of the Shepherd Neame Essex League (SNEL), Walthamstow Cricket Club is back competing in Essex’s strongest league.

Walthamstow Cricket Club was established in 1862 and has been a hub for cricket in the community ever since.

As one of the founding members of the Essex league in 1972, Walthamstow CC has always been an integral part of Essex cricket.

Over the past few years, Walthamstow CC have been developing facilities at their home ground on Greenway Avenue to improve the playing environment for local cricketers.

The changing room facilities have been redeveloped, a new electronic scoreboard has been installed and 2015 will see a brand-new set of enclosed nets built to help develop the next generation of local cricketers.

Utilising local talent has always been the focus within Walthamstow cricket club and with a new lease of life in the SNEL, things will be no different.

With four senior teams competing each Saturday, the club will be looking to recruit as many players of possible from the local communiy to help drive the club forward.

There will be an open day at their home ground on Saturday, April 11from 1pm. It is open to anyone who wants come along and find out more about how to get involved in an exciting time for Walthamstow Cricket.

If you can’t make the open day, outdoor training is run every Tuesday from April 11 at 6pm.
