With two games to play Redbridge have dropped into the Isthmian Division One North relegation places after recording their sixth defeat in seven at the hands of Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.

The Motormen were beaten 3-1 at Oakside and now find themselves in the bottom three by virtue of their -43 goal difference. Romford, directly above them in 21st, have a goal difference of -33.

Visiting Rovers took the lead after just five minutes, Lewis Sparrow seeing his penalty saved by Redbridge stopper Mark Parker before crashing home the rebound.

Redbridge responded well though and should have levelled soon after when Chinedu McKenzie was brilliantly denied by Adam Seal in the visitors' goal.

Shortly after the break Redbridge pulled level when Gavin Cockman headed home after good work from McKenzie.

Billy Radley then thumped a header against the crossbar for the visitors before Dan Trenkel restored their lead on the hour mark.

Cockman ought to have levelled for the home side with 12 minutes remaining but contrived to direct his header straight at visiting goalkeeper Seal.

With four minutes remaining, Great Wakering completed the job when Jay Nash scored a superb individual goal to kill off any lingering Redbridge hopes.

Redbridge travel to third-placed AFC Sudbury on Saturday.
