Epping Upper Clapton won promotion to the London North West Three League on Saturday with a convincing 36-22 win over Ely Tigers in their play-off final.

Promotion means the Clapton club will next season line up against closest rivals Harlow in the London North West Three league, a tie that has not taken place for a number of years.

Victory also rounds off a fantastic season for Simon Brooks’ side, who have lost just three Essex League One games this season, winning the remainder as they finished second in the league.

Among the scorers for Epping Upper Clapton were Mitchel Sinfield and Mitch Dinners, who both went over twice.

Connor Reynolds and Tim Mathews also helped themselves to a try each, with good kicking from Kurtis Knightley.
