Superstars Volleyball team have emerged victorious from an ‘A’ team tournament and it was a special day for the squad, with the win falling on their tenth anniversary.

The Leyton-based club, who play at Leyton Youth Centre, had to beat a number of other ‘A’ Division teams in the Raghbir Singh Loyal Memorial Cup, but only conceded one game in five matches.

Those victories were over Dynamo in the first, AK Stars and Elthorne in the second, before they beat Birmingham Stars Volleyball Club in the semi-finals.

And the final was a repeat fixture of the second round, pitting the Superstars against Elthorne once more and ultimately resulting in the same score line, 2-0 to the side from Leyton.

Superstars captain Irfan Mughal was delighted at the result, which was their first ‘A’ team tournament success.

He said: “I am really proud of the commitment and hard work from each and every player that contributed to this achievement.

“Everyone played really well, showing unity amongst the team and supported each other throughout the tournament.

“We went as a team, played as a team and won as a team.”

The squad now look forward to the next tournament in May, held by Toofan in Birmingham.
