Forest School’s Director of Sixth Form, Sue Clarke, won a silver medal in the duathlon for Team GB age group at the European Championships in Spain.
The duathlon required Clarke to run five kilometres, ride 20 kilometres on a bike and then run a further two-and-a-half kilometres.
Reflecting on her success, Clarke enthused: "What a weekend. It was an amazing experience wearing the GB colours and being part of the GB age group Duathlon team in Alcobendas, Madrid."
"I felt extremely proud to be representing my country and was delighted to win a silver medal in my first GB event on a tough, technical and hilly course. I now need to train in earnest for the World Championships in Adelaide in October."
Qualifying for the event took place in April, where Clarke had to finish within 120 per cent of the time set by the winner of the race and place within the top four.
She has already qualified for next year’s European Championships and the World Championships, which will be held in Adelaide in October 2015.
Professional elite athletes, including Team GB athletes, will also be competing at these events.
