Chingford fighter Boy Jones Junior has vowed to come back with a bang after drawing his third professional bout following a contentious decision.

The 18-year-old super featherweight (2-0-1) was left disappointed after referee Lee Cook declared the contest with Jamie Quinn (1-14-1) a draw at York Hall on Saturday night. But he refused to to be disheartened by the outcome.

Speaking afterwards to iFL TV, he said: “I think it was a very questionable thing. I think everyone in the arena knows who won that fight but that is boxing. You are going to get the bad refs and the refs who are watching a completely different fight.

“For the first two rounds I thought I boxed his head off. I got caught with a couple of chin shots but that is boxing, you are going to get hit.

“In the third round I slowed down the pace, a little bit, but not to lose the round. I don’t think I lost the third round, I just did not want to get hit.

“In the fourth round I thought I upped it and thought I won it. I thought I won all four rounds but it is one of those things.”

He added: “Did you hear the crowd? It was ridiculous. I felt like a world champion, as soon as I walked out, I know it is exaggerating but it was unbelievable for an 18-year-old kid; everyone went mad.

“It just frustrates me that I put all this hard work in and a ref ruined it. I am a kid, I am going to be heartbroken.”

But the teenager, who had won his previous bout by knocking out Aaron Flinn (1-8) after a minute of the first round has promised to return to the ring better than ever.

He will get that chance when he fights on the undercard of Frank Buglioni’s WBA World Super-Middleweight title fight against Fedor Chudinov on July 24.

He stated: “I will be back and I will be back with a bang, I promise you. I am going to come back, fitter, stronger and smarter.”
