The Borough of Waltham Forest Swimming Club (Gators) came home with 53 medals - including 18 golds - from the Thurrock Gala at the weekend.

Ten-year-old Amy Allison won six gold medals and one bronze, whilst Sonia Halili won four gold medals, three silvers and one bronze.

There were also an impressive 89 personal bests racked up over the course of the day. Jack Munden, in particular, put in a tremendous performance to secure a personal best time of 22 seconds in the 100m fly.

Some of the club’s senior swimmers are now in preparation for the British National Championships in July and the English Championships in August.

Head coach Mike Bush commented: "Our swimmers have worked really hard this year and we have a real chance of medal success at both events for the four swimmers who qualified."

The club have also announced they will be holding their home gala, a level three meet, on Sunday, September 27 at the London Aquatic Centre.
