Woodford Green with Essex Ladies’ men finished fifth in the third British Athletics League fixture of the season in Glasgow on Saturday, with wins from Andy Frost and Tosin Oke leading the way.

Frost, who has been in good form in the last couple of weeks - recording a season’s best of 69.49m in the hammer, continued in that vein by winning the opening event of the meet. A distance of 67.20m was enough for victory.

In the ‘B’ string hammer, Anthony Oshodi stepped in and grabbed third place with a distance of 38.84m. Oshodi later took part in his specialist event, the shot put, and placed fourth with 16.24m.

Youcef Zatat won the ‘B’ string shot with a distance of 16.21m.

A former Commonwealth Games champion and a silver medal winner at last year’s event in Glasgow, Oke won the triple jump with 15.86m (+1.5). Thalasong Tshireletso won the ‘B’ event with 14.84m.

In the ‘B’ string high jump there was a third-place finish for Jack Lochans with a height of 2.00m cleared.

On the track there was a first BAL victory for Jermaine Hamilton in the 100m. A time of 10.83 (+0.1) enough to seal a ‘B’ string win and he narrowly missed out on victory in the 200m as 21.74 (+2.3) proved only enough for second.

Omololu Abiodun took second place in the 100m with 10.74 (+0.7) and finished fourth - suffering cramp at the finish line - in the 200m in a time of 21.54 (+3.8).

The women also placed fifth in their second UK Women’s League Premiership fixture, an agonizing four and a half points off of fourth place in the standings.

Portuguese international Sylvia Cruz won the javelin with a distance of 51.49m. Despite a week of illness, Lucy Marshall picked up second place in the hammer and recorded a personal best of 58.74m in the process.

Myra Perkins won the ‘B’ string hammer with 55.99m, whilst Kitty Eleyae was victorious in the ‘B’ string long jump with a distance of 5.57m (-0.6).

There were also a pair of second-places for Moe Sasegbon in the high jump (1.75m) and the ‘B’ string 100m hurdles where a time of 14.30 (+ 3.3) the trick did.

Sarah Busby’s debut saw her finish third in the 100m in 11.92 (+2.2). Rachel Lund clinched third in the 2,000m steeplechase (8.03.20) and Ayamba Akim was third in the ‘B’ high jump with a leap of 1.60m.
