An 18-year-old bodybuilder from Chigwell has powered his way to a gold medal at the English National Championships in the sub-junior class.
Sunny Singh won the 93kg category as a sub-junior at the English National Championships in Horncastle, Lincolnshire.
Singh took the gold medal with a winning lift of 120kg and was cheered on by friends, family and his coaches from Hamilton’s Fitness where he trains.
He said: “It was only my first year in the sub-juniors so I am very new to it. My coach Pinda Singh is a European champion and he gave me a lot of good advice towards my competition.”
Singh started powerlifting when he was 16. He has dedicated himself to the sport and trained hard for the past two years and earlier this year won the East Midlands Under-18 title by benching 115kg to scoop the East Midlands Under-18 Powerlifting Bench Press title at the beginning of May.
His next competition will be the East Midlands Championship in Colchester in two months’ time where he is aiming to press a new personal best.
