Wadham Lodge continued their steady start to life in the Essex Senior League as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Eton Manor on Saturday.

Despite starting brightly, Lodge were unable to impose themselves in an uninspiring encounter at Broxbourne Borough.

A defensive mistake gifted Manor the lead on the quarter-hour mark before Ashley Bankole levelled proceedings for Tony Ievoli’s side prior to half time.

Wadham coach Neil Day said: "A point's a point and another step towards consolidation.

"It was quite obvious we weren’t at our best but it’s important for people around the club to be level-headed about the expectations this year.

"We’ve had to rebuild the squad and it takes time and a degree of patience from the management and committee for players to get to know each other's games effectively.

"It’s a bit of a cliché but it really is a case of judge this team by their final points total rather than specific performances."

Meanwhile, Waltham Forest were trounced 4-1 at home to Towler Hamlets, a result which leaves them fourth bottom with one point.

Ade Lazoio put the visitors ahead in the first half before Randell Williams, Omar Rowe and Raymar Cedras completed the rout with three goals nine minutes.

The Stags pulled one back at the death but Abiola Balogun's goal was a mere consolation.

Forest go to Barking on Tuesday in the Essex Senior League Challenge Cup.
