Old Loughtonians started their campaign in the East Premier Division with a 1-0 win over City of Peterborough on Saturday.

A Luke Mepham goal sealed the win just before half time.

Loughts ladies were beaten 1-0 at home by Maidstone in their first league fixture.

Despite enjoying a number of excellent chances, Loughts could not force a goal.

Wapping ladies made a perfect start to the new season by breezing to a 6-2 opening-day win over Upminster in Division One South.

Kate Silberman got the ball rolling before Natasha Close added a second for the hosts.

Two short corner goals in quick succession from Holly Colvin and Lucy Todd extended Wapping’s advantage before the visitors pulled one back prior to the break.

Upminster got a second before Lou Song added a fifth by converting a rebound off of the goalkeeper’s pads. Todd snatched a second to round off the scoring.

Crostyx ladies began the season in less than ideal fashion, losing 4-2 at home to Sudbury.

The visitors stormed into a 3-0 lead from which Styx never managed to recover.

Sarah Belsham pulled one back before Alys Rowland netted to make matters interesting but as Styx pushed for an equaliser they left themselves open at the back for Sudbury to grab a fourth.

Crostyx men fell to a remarkably similar defeat, going down 5-2 against Blueharts Seconds.

James Lawes put Styx in front but three goals before the break blew them away. Dan Hunn managed to pull one back, but all to no avail as Styx were twice more caught on the counter.
