Four goals shared equally in the first 27 minutes saw Waltham Abbey pick up a 2-2 draw at home to Great Wakering Rovers in Isthmian Division One North on Saturday.
It was visiting Rovers who took the lead, going in front after just five minutes when Lewis Sparrow got up to nod home a cross.
But the Abbotts’ reply was swift and effective; Ryan Flack netting seven minutes later for Martin Hayes’ side.
And five minutes after equalising, Abbey went in front for the first time as the in-form Christian Assombalonga scored his fourth league goal of the season.
But the lead lasted just ten minutes as Jacob Cleaver equalised for Rovers. Chances continued to come and go for both sides but neither could force a winner.
The Abbotts host Soham Town Rangers on Tuesday. They do not have a fixture on Saturday.
