Ten-man FC Leytonstone lost their first game of the season, ending a run of victories losing 1-0 against top-of-the-table East Ham Inter on Sunday.

A Mourad Mohammed effort for the away side was enough to win this east London derby.

Without seven first team players due to injury, Leytonstone battled but were unable to come away with a positive result and subsequently drop to third place in the London City Airport league, albeit with two games in hand over the leaders.

The two teams observed a minute's silence before the match to show support and solidarity for all Sikhs in Punjab.

And the away side took the lead through Mohammed midway through the first half after Daniel Owusu conceded a free-kick.

Mohammed converted the set piece and things got worse for Leytonstone after Charles Gy’mafi was sent off for a second bookable offence.

A goal and a man down, Leytonstone battled back and created a number of chances in the second half but were denied an equaliser by an inspired performance from the East Ham keeper.

First Zulqi Khan and then Micah Stennett were kept out early in the half and the hosts could count themselves unlucky to have not got more from the match.
