East London Boxing Academy’s Hamza Hajee Sheriff beat West Ham Boxing Club’s Billy Roome.

The pair had met before with Sheriff victorious on a split judges decision, so a tight contest was always in the offing.

In front of Roome’s home crowd at East Ham Working Men’s Club, Sheriff put on a superb display winning every round utilising his array of boxing skills to clinch a unanimous points victory.

Head coach Umer Ali Iqbal said: “It’s clear that Hamza is fast improving and his willingness to be active in the ring with two bouts in two weeks and two wins is helping him grow as a boxer.”

The club had another winner on Saturday evening as the undefeated Andrew Ozansay beat Redbridge ABC’s Rajan Gill to extend his record.

The East London fighter was on top from the first bell and proved to be too strong and too big for Gill, who was unable to keep Ozansay away from him.

“Andrew lacks in height but he makes up with pure heart and determination,” said head coach Iqbal.
