Wadham Lodge played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with East London neighbours Sporting Bengal on Wednesday night in the Essex Senior League.

Despite going behind twice Tony Ievoli's side hit back with goals from Dion Lewis Kirwan and Samuel Owusu to take a share of the spoils.

Despite seeing Lodge drop two points, coach Neil Day was quick to praise the resolve of his side against an impressive Sporting outfit.

"There was a bit of role reversal tonight in as far as the opposition probably played better football than us on the night," he admitted.

"This meant that other qualities such as character, desire and commitment had to come to the fore second half, we showed them in abundance and could have even sneaked a win at the death.

"All in all it was a good game for the neutrals and I think few could argue it was a fair result."

Lodge entertain Takeley on Saturday and Day has stressed the club's management team will continue to plot their ESL adventure on a game-by-game basis.

He said: "True to say there's been no easy games this year and Saturday is sure to follow that pattern. We haven't looked more than one game ahead all season and that mind-set has served us well.

"Takeley traditionally play good football so our increasing fan base should be in for another entertaining afternoon."
