Waltham Abbey occupy a relegation place in Isthmian Division One North after suffering consecutive defeats on Saturday and Tuesday.

The Abbotts, who find themselves 23rd, are a point from safety and have played more games than the side immediately above the bottom three – reigning Essex Senior League champions Haringey Borough.

Abbey shipped three second half goals to lose 3-0 at home to AFC Sudbury on Tuesday.

Things had been going well for Martin Hayes' men at Capershotts but their resistance was broken by Joe Maybanks after nine minutes of the second half.

Luke Callander got the first of two in the 68th minute before taking the game out of Abbey's grasp seven minutes later.

The Abbotts had been beaten 1-0 at home to Bury Town on Saturday.

A goal from substitute Cemal Ramadan on half-time was enough to separate the two sides.

Ramadan was introduced after 27 minutes in place of the injured Daniel Harnett and the Abbotts were dealt another blow as defender Elliott Johnson was withdrawn with injury in the same incident.

Abbey go to Heybridge Swifts on Saturday looking to halt a five-game losing streak.
