Waltham Abbey picked up a creditable point as they ended 2015 with a goalless draw at high-flying local rivals Chesunt on Boxing Day.

The Ambers, in fifth place in Isthmian Division One North, couldn't break down a resolute Abbey backline with former Abbotts striker Jason Hallett going close.

Martin Hayes' side end the year bottom of the pile and without a win in the league since October 17. But they are still just six points from safety.

Darrell Russell went as close as anyone for the hosts but couldn't beat former Abbey stopper James May.

Abbey go to Harlow Town on Saturday, January 2 before visiting Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday 5.
