Wadham Lodge’s recent period of inactivity comes to an end on Wednesday night when Sawbridgeworth Town visit Kitchener Road in the Gordon Brasted Trophy quarter-final.

It promises to be an exciting night for Tony Ievoli’s men. It is their first quarter-final at senior level and the crowd is expected to swell due to interest in the charitable angle to the evening.

A percentage of the gate will be going towards the Danny Walton Fund, a young lad with Cerebral Palsy who requires round-the-clock care from his family and lives in the local area.

Coach Neil Day is looking forward to the occasion and pleased with the club’s growing profile.

He said: “Slowly but surely our fan base has been growing. Not only is Wednesday for a great cause it will give a glimpse of the sort of crowd we could realistically get if things keep progressing on the right path.

“I’m hoping we will get at least a 100 at this game if the local football community get behind it, hopefully they’ll make some noise for the team and want to come back.”
