Christian Assombalonga scored inside a minute to set Waltham Abbey on their way to a 2-1 win over Wroxham on Saturday and move the Abbotts out of the bottom three.
The striker, brother of Nottingham Forest hitman Britt, gave Paul Joynes and Mark Cutler’s side the lead at Capershotts inside 60 seconds.
However, Wroxham – who began the day above Abbey in the in Isthmian Division One North standings – equalised after 27 minutes when Jack Garrod notched from the penalty spot.
Five minutes into the second half the Abbotts restored the lead through Ryan Flack Abbey host Dereham Town on Tuesday before going to Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.
