London Raiders’ miserable 2016 continued on Saturday evening as Alan Blyth’s side made it 12 without victory in NIHLS 1, going down 4-1 at home to Solent Devils.

The Raiders last tasted victory against Streatham Raiders on December 19 and have now lost ten fixtures on their miserable run.

The first period passed without the deadlock being broken, though the visitors lost Monty Gailer to hospital with a bloodied nose and concussion after colliding with the boards.

The best chance went Solent’s way as Rio Grinell-Parke cracked a shot off the post.

Solent took the lead five minutes into the second period. Mitchell Murray fired home with George Norcliffe providing the assist.

Import Marek Nahlik almost levelled soon after but instead saw his effort blocked into the chest of netminder Christian Cole.

With the Raiders short-handed the Hampshire side doubled up, Ralfs Circenis hitting the back of the net.

London were handed another powerplay in the second period after Richard Brown was given a two minute penalty for a face-off violation.

The advantage was shortlived as Michal Oravec was penalised for high sticking.

Once Solent were back to full strength they grabbed a third, Alex Murray scoring.

In the 35th minute the away side stretched their lead as Richard Facey fired home.

Three minutes before the end of the period the Raiders struck Captain Tom Davis saw his effort saved by Cole but Nahlik finished up.
