Wapping are four points clear atop East League Premier A following a resounding 6-1 thrashing of Havering on Saturday.

Hosts Wapping controlled the game throughout. However, due to some poor passing in the final third, it wasn’t until 15 minutes in that Dutchman Michiel Marck pounced on a rebound off the crossbar to drill an upright reverse stick shot into the net.

The floodgates then opened. Felix Styles drag flicked a quick-fire brace to put Wapping 3-0 up before Phil Messent unleashed an unstoppable reverse stick shot into the rigging to provide the east Londoners with a comfortable 4-0 half time lead.

With the result effectively confirmed, the priority for the second half was to put a lid on the game, preserving players for tough upcoming fixtures.

This tactic may have fed the home side’s frustration and Havering duly picked up two yellow cards while Wapping added two further goals via Grant Aidoo-Nash and a second for Marck.

A late consolation goal from a counter-attack wasn’t enough to derail Wapping’s control and they add another three points to their title challenge.

Wapping ladies are still top of Division One South following a 1-1 draw with Holcombe.

Louise Song put visitors Wapping in front but a lobbed effort earned a draw for the hosts after the break.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Old Loughtonians came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Dereham Town.

Johnny Sloman started the fightback before half time and Ross Hetem levelled after the break.

Meanwhile, the ladies lost 1-0 at Bromley and Beckenham.

In Division Two South, Crostyx breezed to a 5-0 win at Berkhamsted.

Demi Vasiliou (2), Jake Burke (2) and Joe Whitehead got the goals.

The ladies were 4-0 winners over Basildon.
