Hainault & Clayhall 140-9
Wanstead 76-2
(Premier League)
RAIN halted play after the tea break and Wanstead had to be satisfied with nine points from a game they were favourites to win.
Hainault and Clayhall were invited to bat first and struggled throughout their innings. First, the 28-over bowling partnership of Chris Murray and Shaheed Saeed (2-28) saw the batsmen restricted to two runs per over. Before another prolonged bowling partnership of John Chambers (4-41) and Mo Fayyaz (2-15) continued to bring success for the Herons - as Hainault were left on just 140-9.
Wanstead batted until tea. Skipper Arfan Akram was caught early for eight, but the disciplined Andrew Joslin and more aggressive Chirs Laas put on a stand of 60 until Laas was caught behind off S Vaja.
Joslin was on 23 not out, with Chambers on five not out when the rain brought matters to an early close.
