Old Brentwoods 215-a/o
Ongar 95-a/o
(Division Three)

ONGAR'S poor start to the season continued after another poor batting display saw them lose by 120 runs to Old Brentwoods.

Visiting skipper Dave Hetherington won the toss and asked the Old boys to open the batting.

But despite picking up wickets at regular intervals, an excellent 70 from opener Zebey Mahmood, coupled with useful knocks from Dwight Johnson (35) and Daryl Selby with an undefeated 46 saw the hosts notch up 215 runs.

Ben Stewart led the visitors attack with fine figures of 4-54 from his mamouth 20 overs, while Pete Ellis, Sam Adcock and Matt Adcock all got two wickets each.

The Love Lane mens reply never got going and at one point they were left rocking on 5-13. And with only Mick Ayres (24), Neal Clark (16) and Sam Adcock (22) managing double figure scores the visitors were all out for 95.

Ali Raza did the bulk of the damage recording brilliant figures of 5-38 from his 15 overs, while Khan (3-13) and Paul McGowan (2-15) provided the main support.
